A Note from Founder Christine Cook
There’s nothing I’ve loved more in my life than being a mom, but I remember having some really lonely days in those early years of parenthood. I’m a pretty friendly person, but striking up meaningful connections while juggling the schedules of young children, work, home, etc. is tough—really tough!
One time I asked my pediatrician if he knew other moms that might want to meet. “Can you set me up with someone?!” I asked. He laughed, thinking I was kidding. Actually I wasn’t!
I remember going to the playground, music class, swim lessons (and more) with my boys and scouting out potential friends. I was always thinking, “Oh, they probably already have PLENTY of friends.” Or, I’d begin a conversation with someone and we’d be really hitting it off and then one of our children would scrape a knee or start getting tired and crabby. Off one of us would go to take our crying child home. I remember wanting to yell out, “Wait! What’s your name?”
Now, eventually with a lot of effort I DID make some really great friends! These friends have been my lifeline as my boys grow. I truly can’t imagine being a parent without the support, understanding and fun I experience with my friends.

The pendulum can swing from sheer joy as you capture a moment of your child learning how to feed themselves to sheer frustration as you deal with your child going Picasso with crayons on your bedroom walls! An hour later your baby says their first word and your toddler whips a block at you.
